OVERVIEW
The chocolate partridge orpington is a colour we have been developing since 2011. I first saw this colour on wyandottes and decided there and then that I must find it or create it in largefowl orpingtons.
This project was a fairly straight forward process of breeding in the chocolate to replace the black on the standard partridge plumage. The first cross created poorly marked partridge cocks of which 50% were split for chocolate. For the following 2 years it has been a case of selecting the best to breed on with, leading to the fine examples you see pictured below.
The hens are not nearly as spectacular as the cockerels as the chocolate does not show strongly through the pencilling on the feathers.
Whilst we are very happy with the quality of these birds we will study the first offspring before we release these for sale later in spring 2015.
